Our story

Software built around a njangithat already works.

Njangi is built for the savings circles that already exist: the committees, the rules they agree, and the records they keep by hand.

The spark

Why a savings circle deserves its own software

A savings circle already works. Members agree an amount, a cadence and what the pooled money is for, then hold each other to it. What tends to fail is the record: a notebook one person carries, a balance nobody else can check, and a disagreement that comes down to memory.

So the aim is narrow. Keep the committee's rules where every member can read them, keep the money in a ledger that balances, and leave the social part of a njangi alone. The software does not replace the trust in a circle. It makes that trust easier to check.

The practice

A njangi goes by many names

Rotating savings are neither new nor local. The same arrangement runs under different names across Central and West Africa and well beyond: njangi, tontine, susu, chama, esusu. Members contribute a fixed amount each cycle, and in turn each one receives the pool.

  • Guarantee fund

A funded pool: premiums in, draws out. It pays the recipient in full when a member defaults, and it can never go negative.

  • Reputation and vouching

On-time history, completed circles and default count gate eligibility and limits. A member can co-sign another, and the guarantor's stake covers a default.

  • Verified identity

The first tier collects an ID front, an ID back and a selfie. The second adds a recent proof of address.

  • Welfare and side pots

A member files for a qualifying event and a person approves it. A side pot collects beside the rotation without changing anyone's place in it.

Our principles

What guidesevery circle.

Both languages, everywhere
English and French across the whole product, not a translated page in front of an English console.
Usable without a connection
A contribution recorded without signal is held as an intention and settles once the server has validated it.
A ledger that balances
Every movement is a double entry. A member's statement is drawn from the same record the committee reads, so the two cannot disagree.
The committee decides
The type, the cadence, the selection method and who holds which role belong to the circle. A default is a starting point, not a policy.

Our journey

From the committee's rulesto every member's statement.

  1. 2026

    Circles, cycles and the pot

A circle declares its type, its cadence and how the pot is awarded. Contributions are tracked per member per cycle, and one member is served on schedule.

  2. 2026

    Trust, made explicit

A guarantee fund that pays the recipient in full on a default, reputation and vouching that gate limits, and verified identity before money moves.

  3. 2027

    Risk and verification

Default risk scoring, anomaly detection on the transaction stream, and assisted checks on documents and claim evidence. A person still approves every claim.

  4. 2027

    Tools for members

A bid advisor, cashflow forecasting, and an assistant that answers in your own language. No model output alone moves money.

Start with the committeeyou already have.

Agree the rules once, invite the members, and let the ledger keep the record from there.
